Y-ASES is our after-school academic enrichment program that provides WCUSD students with additional opportunities for academic and social development. Students meet together five days a week from school dismissal until 6:00 p.m. to participate in:
- Health and nutrition activities
- Physical activities
- Classroom enrichment activities
- And much more!
This unique opportunity is available because of the generous partnership of our local YMCA. The cost for Y-ASES is $30 per month, per child for elementary schools, but is no cost for intermediate sites.

Our STEM enrichment curriculum provides students with group learning activities that explore science, technology, engineering, and math. We use problem-solving techniques and hands-on learning modes to discover how we use these technical subjects every day.
Homework help is available every day at Y-ASES.
Reading Intervention/Readers Theatre
Our targeted reading intervention brings students up to grade level and improves the test scores of struggling readers. Using dynamic lessons that focus on reading comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, phonics, sight words, and writing activities, our students are having fun developing their reading skills.
Lexia Computer Program
We designed our kid-friendly computer program specifically to enhance classroom instruction by providing interactive practice opportunities and individualized education goals.
Coordinated Approach To Child Health is an evidence-based health program designed to promote physical activity, healthy food choices, and prevent tobacco use in children. Establishing healthy habits in childhood promotes behavior changes that last a lifetime.
This section of our program prepares children to put an end to school bullying. Filled with facts and strategies, each session teaches empathy, kindness, and personal safety.
Stop, Drop & Read
A permanent feature, our reading program promotes a love for reading.
This rotating program explores storytelling and drama. Students learn about the components of a good story, what it takes to put on a play, and performance etiquette.
